The Lion King (1994 & 2019)

In an almost scene for scene remake of Disney’s classic Lion King, Mufasa’s rule of the Pride Lands is challenged by his brother Scar. Feeling entitled to the throne, Scar puts a plan in motion to murder the King and his son, Simba. During the attempted coup Simba is exiled to a far away land where he meets new friends and finds a new philosophy on life far from the pressures of being king. As fate would have it, Simba’s past catches up to him and he’s forced to decide if he’ll continue to follow his carefree lifestyle or follow his fathers footsteps and return the bloodline to the throne. Will Simba reinject soul into the barren wasteland of in this “real” CGI retailing of the animated original, or is the Kingdom doomed to suffer the consequences of a terrible plot against a proud legacy?

P.S. Someone forgot which version we were supposed to watch so we kind of review both this week.
